Oh, yeah. Here's one I forgot to mention in the last post. I didn't think about it until now.

One awesome feature would be recordable next sequence events. Just like track mutes can be recorded and saved as sequence data, it would be nice if next sequence events can be recorded and saved as song data as a new method of programming a song. That way, I can have different pattern variations programmed as separate sequences and have them play back using the next sequence screen to trigger different sequences (variations) at different, unpredictable times live and be able to record that as song data. To me, that would be a great way to program a song and also a great way to add a live feel to the beat and have the beat break down in different ways and add fill-in variations like the oldschool drum machines did back in the day (for example Roland TR808, Alesis SR16).

Then I can later I can convert that song into a sequence (a feature I currently use quite frequently when programming) and change it further by mixing it, recording track mutes into it, etc......!!!!!!

So basically with this added feature, there would be two ways of programming a song:

1. The traditional way where you select your sequences and number of times they repeat

2. The song is programmed based on next sequence events which are recorded live in realtime. There would probably need to be an additional page/window in the song mode screen in which the user would be allowed to manually edit the next sequence events later if desired (sort of like sequence edit).

Of course, recordable next sequence events would definitely allow the MPC musician to expand his/her creativity further. I think I'll add this comment to the feature request thread also.

Sup everyone,
I've been thinking about this feature for awhile now so I don't know if anyone has said it.but.....

What if there was a feature called "Add to program" in the chop screen. Youknow, when you convert into sliced samples and it asks you if you want release and make a new progam?

Another option, "add to", would let you select a program and would just assign the chops to the first open pads...
This would save me so much time when choppin a bunch of pieces, anyone else??\

You serious?
If I would have some cash I would probably faster throw it at yamaha rs7000 and su700 to accompaniment  that would be a killer addition for me

my killer addition would be tracker style access to wavedata: automatically split up every wave into 255 evenly spaced potential start points, and allow every note instance to contain a hex value that pertains to a start point. can you guess what that would do for loops?

jj wont do it. i dare you jj

in fact, i dare any equipment manufacturer to implement that!

hmm well it would easily allow you direct access to any start point within your sampled phrase. talk about chopping ability... and you wouldnt need any non destructive chopping routine.

i meant to type 256 originally. 1 - 256 can be represented with a 2 digit hex code but also handles midi values well as you notice its a multiple of 127. i guess theres no necessary significance of the hex other than its a higher resolution than 127 which is good if youre working with loops.

i guess the hex could serve to scare away all the sucka djs

id like that too. i take it he means being able to switch a sample between L/R and Stereo non destructively in pgm mode. itd be good as a polyphony saver (where you can switch the samples back to stereo before tracking). you can do it on my emu sampler and its good for creative puposes too. sometimes you prefer one side of a sample to the other and its nice to switch it around within the context of the track quickly, rather than copying samples, deleting channels and reassigning samples.

unfortunately, my 'killer additions' to the os have all been shown to be pretty much impossible to add, but:

1. recordable GPE parameter changes
(tweak GPE stuff realtime and have it recorded into the sequence. viewable & editable in GRID EDIT).

this is a big one for me. it would multiply X 1000 what you could do with your MPC.
i'm sure it's do-able in theory, but would take a lot of work & once implemented would probably choke the MPC's tiny little cpu.

2. external midi cc control of internal mpc parameters
(control your mpc with an external midi controller. GPE, TRIM screen stuff, TRACK MUTES, etc...).

JJ already tried to do this and failed. said it would take a ground-up rewrite of the os.

3. at least 64 voice polyphony.

see 'tiny little cpu'.

This is a biggie for me too. I personally don't think you can call anything even a halfway decent sampler without it.

Other killer additions for me would be the 'Mute Hold' and 'Mute Reset' functions I mentioned here.

i just want to be able swap left and right channel (left become right and right become left) non destructively in program mode preferably .
actually your idea is really good ! that would be really nice to be able to choose betwen L/R (normal playback of the sample) R/L (stereo reverse) L (only the left channel) R (only the right channel) in program mode.
also non destructive sample reverse seems like a simple feature compared to a lot of other features that are allready there in os2xl

The option to have a stereo sample play in mono would be a cool option for some people.

I still don't see the point of swapping left and right channels though...
