Hi,
mpc5k has a very limited way of using its 4FX buses. this is why I choose to place this thread outside the loong request thread.
there's no way of using more than one FX send per prgmix.
you can't pan FX returns, except for the multitap delay.
the reverb effect is in mono and not possible to pan at all.
my suggessions are as follows:
Add panning to each fx slot, create a fx send window where all FX buses are available per prgmix.
tap slot 1 (reverb) to slot 2 (delay), but let slot 1 have it's own output and panning to LR output, slot 2 can hold a modulated delay and be panned to opposite side. there's a decent reverb for you :-)
A more CPU heavy version would be to link fx bus1+2 as a stereo fx send.
Only then will we have full use of the 4 fx buses that the mpc5k is equipped with
Let's push for a change together

i gotta be honest i dont have ny real serious gripes with the fx, compare to any of the previous mpc's i think the whole set up and feel is much better.
not saying that what you send wouldnt be handy additions just there are some other issues id prefer resolved first

yes Don,
mpc5k may have a more advanced FX unit than earlier mpc's, but the 4 FX buses has more potential than ever.
mpc5k is also more of a workstation now, with a synth, keygroups for instruments, hard disk recording and automation.
that's why I was so surprised to see how the 4 FX buses is used currently.

Yeah i agree, another thing tha i think should be sorted as the 5k is meant to be more of a workstation is the hd record, i think that it was a great idea but not as advanced as it should be.

Good points, jocks. I also think the structure of the (great sounding) fx section could be overworked a little. Furthermore the sets should be nameable/saveable and they could be better implemented in the "resampling with fx" procedure.

FX sets are saveable and nameable.

Oh, I thought the fx were only included in the "save whole memory" function, was there an improvement made in OS2? Gotta look when I'm home...

No, you can't save them separately but that's not what you were saying :)
