Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Alright well after messing with different settings I believe I have come across a bug.

This is my setup.

I have my MPC 4000 OUT(A) going into my MOTIF XS 8 in and XS 8 OUT going into MPC 4000 IN(1). I can trigger the MIDI from the keyboard and record in the MPC sequencer, and I can also send midi from the MPC into the MOTIF, trigger the notes and record into the MPC sequencer. My original problem is when I setup a drum track and my out is OUT A I have the option to select a program number in the track section. If I select the same program number as the one from the motif whatever I do, when I go and record a 4/4 4 bar sequence and hit rec/play and record on the first downbeat and I hit play and play it back from the beginning it is fine, but when I hit play/start it cuts half of the note duration. Now I have gone into the seq/edit screen and made sure that the note was directly where it should be in the drum matrix and it plays fine there.

Solution, I can't select the same program number as the one that is selected from the motif. What I have to do is select the kit or voice directly from the motif.

Can you guys please verify this and make sure that I am not crazy. Oh btw my TC is 1/16th and 50% swing. Let me know if you guys need clarification.

I also notice that when I record the first measure is always faster than the rest of the measures, no matter what I record. I'm not sure if this is because the devices aren't syncing correctly.

What are you doing? What are you recording Midi or audio? Is this MPC only or MPC+DAW?
If you could give a better run down of what you are doing we might have a better handle of what your issue could be.

just use the midi clock setting and have the 4k as the master and the motif as the slave
turm off all that mmc shit

Its bizarre. If I hit play I can see the velocity in the out meter, but if I hit play/start it shows the velocity in the out bar on the track window.

Do you just choose your voice with the LSB? Do you leave Program Chg OFF? I'm just trying to figure out if there is this bug, you are going to have this with all of your sequences. How do you get around it?
