JJOS Chord Memorizer

Could anyone explain how it works?

How many chords are possible?
Are they stored in programs?
How do i assign them?
Can i assign them to midi out?

I don't know the answer to this question but ... you can stilll install the free version to get some of the cool features such as GPE, Chop, etc. Its free, why not? If you don't like it you can always roll back to the AKAI OS

have the 5k but thinking of buying a 2nd mpc for traveling etc..

The chords are in OSX, it is like a midi track, you can store your own chords play them in real time or step record, they are played with just one pad, so pads 1-4 cound be cmaj, cma7, cmin, cmin7...., I think its a worthy feature you can gate the notes in a chord by using the appegiator function, and they aretransmitted to external modules

1) I believe a total of 32 chords can be programmed
2) I believe so..
3) MAIN page highlight "Track Type field" circle till u see Chords hit "window", then hit "chord".
4) Already assigned to whatever MIDI channel is highlighted

great feature in OS2XL. if you DO get another mpc+JJOS2XL and you use a lot of stereo samples, i recommend you convert them to mono when using them in a chord track. otherwise it can get voice costly when used heavy on multiple tracks with my experience so far. but this only happened when i tested its max capability and its never posed a problem when actually whippin up a masterpiece yet. if you get an mpc 1K or 2.5K with JJOS2XL you'll put more use to it then just traveling with it. i'd get the 2500 if i had the money - same size pads as flagship mpc's, more functions with or without JJOS, has balanced outs, direct record function (not in JJOS) and is very portable. the 1k is great as well and extremely portable but has smaller pads and only 6 unbalanced outputs. i bought a 1000 w/128ram to get JJOS2XL and i've been killin **** on this thing and been using it as much if not more then the 2000XL i started on. my only problem is that i bought a 1k and the small pads takes a sec getting used to and they just dont feel them same (and yes i do have the upgraded pads). of course this is all based on my opinion. you could very well not like the JJOS or you may love it depends on what u do and need, and if your willing to learn a new OS. check out the JJOS website and start digging into it. http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/.
