Using the SPDIF and EFFECTS card to Record to Protools

Here is my latest sneaky idea..Is this gonna work? suggestions or ideas.

At the moment I can't afford too much by way of outboard equipment, I'm using the 4000 and tracking through a mixer into the MBOX2. I've just ordered the SPDIF card for the 4000 as I'm sick of the shitty DA converters in the MBOX2 and can't afford to upgrade to a DIGIDESIGN 002 yet. My plan is to run vocals through the MPC's record in and use some of the QFX of the EFX card (I rate the EB16 as better than alot of the Plug INs on PROTOOLS!) for some compression, reverb and EQing of Vocals and then out of the SPDIF into the MBOX2 and on to Protools?


Will the monitor out of Record window be pumping out of the SPDIF with no latency?

How Good to you guys think the EB16 is?

Not sure about the latency issue TBH.

Sample the vocal into your machine and proceed as normal with FX, track via SPDIF.
