Diego,

I'm sorry to hear about the problems with the Neko. I'm sure Open Labs are going to get it back up and running for you?

I'm sure you're excited about having that joint. It seems to be a really versatile piece of gear.

What happened to your Neko Diego?

Google Presonus Firebox redlight.

Apparently there are major issues with the fire wire and XP SP2. For some reason it degrades firewire connections making them useless. I tried upgrading to SP3, but the system wouldn't let me. Open labs tried connecting to my computer remotely and they couldn't do it either.

I personally believe the reason why they stopped making the timbaland edition keyboards was because of this issue.

I sent the unit back and I will be getting the GEn5 neko (which I should have done in the first place).

I did contact Akai today and tech support recommended a replacement and that was music to my ears. So I had to send them the serial number and I am now waiting for their further instruction on returning it. I was warned that it will more than likely take approx. 30 days before I would receive the replacement. I'm good with that as long as I don't have to deal with this annoying **** anymore.

Yeah, thats good... sorry to hear about the 30 days... you are good to deal with 40 times, cause it would have been back at the store by then. But thats a first around here with a 5000 that i heard about having that issue

40 times was in one night alone which was last night (Sunday). Monday couldn't get here soon enough. The funny thing is that it has been pretty stable tonight. It happened twice within the last couple of hours. Great improvement from last night. But I still can't take any chances. So I will just have to wait it out. I need the stability.

Yeah, definitely get it fixed. These things don't just magically fix themselves. There might be some junk rolling around in there too causing a short intermittently. These kinds of issues are so hard to tell though.

Akai is all over it. So far I am really impressed with tech support.

I just have to go through a 30-35 day waiting spell.

I'm good with that. It is for a good cause.

Well, I finally got this problem with automatic restarts worked out. I still do not know what caused the unit to restart on its own. Akai did send me a replacement. Thanks Akai.

I received the unit today but I did not open it up because I decided to go ahead and sale it off on Craig List. I don't really need it now. I have an MPC3K and a Motif XS now. So that is quite enough for me right now. So if anyone is interested I am letting it go for $1900. That price includes an EXM-E3 memory expansion card and the CD drive, plus I will pay half of the shipping cost.

I was fooling around with another sampling drum I have and I notice my mpc5000 rebooted without me touching it. It happen once last weekend and I thought it was strange. I also have the strange screen contrast bug also, that other members here has. Good thing I kept my mpc4000.

That was my experience and later it started again and got pretty annoying.
