you guys should try out soft laptop bags. i got this dope bag from a 555soul sample sale for 40 bucks and it comes with another case inside the bag, which is detachable, that has a ton of padding. my 1000 fits more snug in it than would a laptop. look around and find something that's not heavy but has great padding. those i think are very important features.

For those who've bought a standard flight case from a shop and then customised it, did you cut the lower layer of foam all the way through (so that the MPC effectively sits on the very bottom of the case), or just part of the way down (so it is completely surrounded by foam)?

most standard flight cases have 2 sepearte layers of foam...one for cutting, one solid through , so there's always foam between your gear and the box's shell. And the foam is usually laser cut into small squares that you just tear out...no cutting involved.
