Xl because of "move sequence" (I play mpc live so I have many sequences, when I want to move one sequence to another place, it's ****in easier to use this function), filter Eq, sometimes chord, quantize strenght and many little additions (numeric key etc...).

But I really miss the Q-links of Os 2.

you wanna use simult because it offers something more than layers? like envelopes and filters and such? i hear ya. maybe you could combine your sounds using some other method before you load them in the mpc?

i don't care about simult pads much anymore, except to appease those that DO care.

simult pads for me weren't ideal because of the polyphony usage, i'd end up with a kick drum + hi hat/open hi hat combo that would total 6 voices in no time. now that i no longer simult i can dedicate more voices to xfade looping to make my sample chops sound more smooth and flawless, all while still creating simultaneous sample trigger layers on my drums with poise.

I thought the ability to edit realtime qlink in the grid, had been removed from OS2 as well. Am I blind? How are you doing this?

os2's QREAL always bugged me and eventually i decided it was unusable compared to CC edit. since it's based on os2's DRUM GRID mode, you can't zoom in or out. there were other bugs as well, some graphical, where the screen wouldn't update. it was useful to use as a visual of your recorded motions and also for inputting qreal ranges, but it had some problems that made it pretty unwieldy

in GRID EDIT, hold down the SHIFT key and hit F1 (Q-REAL).

yeah, cc edit is better but the lack of zooming doesn't really bother me. i don't get that anal with the QREAL editing to the point where i'm performing microsurgery on it.

regarding the graphical bug you mentioned, CC edit had it as well and i reported it to JJ a while back and he fixed it. i'm pretty sure that fixed the problems in QREAL as well. i just cheecked it quickly and it seems to be ok.

in GRID EDIT, hold down the SHIFT key and hit F1 (Q-REAL).

I can't see this in OS2. I could see it in OS1 but not in 2.

In GRID EDIT I have:

Loop Edit, Copy, Paste, Delete, Mute, Solo

Then I press SHIFT... and I get

Sample, Option, Loop On

I'm on the 2500 though, maybe QReal is available in OS2 for the 1000 only?

i'll be damned! i just had a look at the os 2 online manual for the 2500 and you're right: there is no QREAL edit in there for 2500 users!

well... that's weird. don't know what to say... get a 1000 i guess!

i guess JJ really don't like QREAL edit? :?

Hey guys I need to ask you a question ive asked multiple times:

Does Akai Os count tempo wrongly? Ive heard that people had problems with timing in the akai OS:es. (There was a thread where some guy noticed that when simultaniously triggered 16 sounds at the same, they are in different place, they should be all be in the same place??)

And does the PPQn resolution have any effect if using timing? (Compared to 960PPQN sequencers)

cant say anything about the timing thing with the akai os. but as far as ppqn goes. the higher the resolution the more precise you can get the timing.

is just over three months that I use the 1k, so my remarks may be related.

for more than 10 years I have played live music and made only with (trackers), and my workflow is centered at 99% on speed.

I have always been accustomed to do that one thing in little time as possible, because unfortunately I tend to lose inspiration easily.

I held a week akai os (suck), another week I spent with the OS1 and then I'v stabilized for a month with os2 (which I liked very much).

when I tried os2xl have gone out of the head, was exactly what I needed, a very fast workflow.
Shortcuts for me are important than other features(mixer automation,simult,q-link grid edit, ecc...) even if now(in last works) currently 85% of the project I do directly on 1k.
just to be exacting, I like to use 2 q-link at the same time, however, nothing serious at the end...

so, for my workflow os2xl is the best
