Just wanted to record a track. The MPC only plays the drums, everything else comes from keyboard and synth. But the problem is, there's crackle on the drums. It's very strange cos the crackle comes totally unpredictable. Sometimes the whole loop plays without one and then it plays again in the next pass, but not always at the same place.

The drums are from a chopped up drumloop. I chopped up the drumloop on my pc and there was no crackle on it.

I also thought that it's maybe cos of the Ins on my Digi, but checked out all of the Ins and there's no difference. It also occurs when I put the headphones directly to the MPC. No difference.

I don't get this :?

I'm using the normal stereo outs. Recording in 24bit/96khz though. That shouldn't make any difference, right?

is it possible that there is another layer on top of it? Re record the part and see if it still does it.

Yup just rerecorded and it's still there. Also recorded a part with more simple drums where there's enough space between the different hits. But it still crackles.

I'll load up other drums now and try out if they also crackle.

try isolating everything from the wall with a power conditioner. make sure your power is constant, as in no brown outs or spikes... if someone downstairs cuts a vacuum cleaner on or refrigerator or fluorescent light etc. that is on the same circuit then youll hear a click without an isolation scheme. dont run power cables parallel with audio cables, if they have to reside next to each other, make them perpendicular to each other. thats about all i can think of.

hmmm... coming across this thread reminded me that i had exactly the same problem on a project last week and i forgot about it ...

did the original poster resolve the issue?

--- ok i just reread the post,

i think my problem may be slightly different as there was only 1 click and it was always in the same place, and wouldnt show up until the beat had looped.

I tried reducing polyphony, but didnt lower my master db as it doesnt cause this problem on other projects.
I was able to isolate the track the tick was on, but couldnt resolve the issue.

oh, well, ill post back if i solve it
