unfortunately I have to send my 1000 to akai support (****, the mode button is dead after only 3 months).
to erase all traces of OS 1 and 2XL simply install the os AKAI?

you don't even need to buy the replacement parts at mpcstuff.com, you get most of the parts much cheaper at every common electronic-store.

I needed some replacement buttons too, so i just bought them here: http://www.conrad.de and safed lots of shipping-fees (I live in germany)

yes i remove the upper faceplate and tryin to push the switch under the button with a pen, the problem persist, I should have changed the switch...so I dont know what can I do to change the switch(seems little difficult and I dont have any experience in welding )and consider that I still have about a year and a half of warranty,without neglecting the fact that i dont live in the USA and a shipment from mpc stuff would take a long time.

however,sooner or later, I will have to take stock of 1000's spare parts from mpc stuff for when the warranty ends...

What are the make and model of the buttons?

Can nobody who has replaced them before help with this? (Not got my 2500 yet.) EDIT: Well all I need is dimensions really and should be able to find something suitable even if not exact replacement.

BTW System Shock, had a look at your MySpace page. You use almost identical stuff to me. I have been using Renoise for a while, recently got a Virus B and am pairing it up with an MPC2500 to try and work out some kind of live set

Ok since nobody has really answered your original question. I will. You can not get all traces of the jjos off your mpc. Especially if you have activated the os. It stores the password info in a section that does not reflash with the install of a new os. Which is why you don't need to re-enter your password if you go back and forth from akai to jjos. You have effectively voided your warrantee and akai can tell if you have done that. All they have to do is backup your eprom and they can verify what code is legit on it. That's if they decide to check. And my theory is its easier to check than it is to repair your mpc. And if your warrantee is void they save money. And on top of that you have to pay for return shipping to get your unit back.

Lunatic : I was already aware of this, limit i'll buy the switch and replace it ...basically only have to change a broken switch, not the matherboard...think there are good probabilities that they discovered the trick?

maybe someone can describe me the procedure to replace the broke switch, I dont understand what to do after I removed the upper faceplate....

As I said it's only a guess from the pictures on the mpcstuff site. What I would do is measure the dimensions with a vernier calliper, or if you don't have access to a pair then a decent ruler and good eye should do. Or maybe somebody who feels more confident can check or inform you from their personal experience. Sorry I can't be more help by being 100% positive but that switch would be my best guess, and even though you have to order 25 it still works out cheaper than a single one from mpcstuff.

Good luck with it. I hope you have at least a little experience with a soldering iron, if not it's never too late to start
