mpc2000xl sampler problems

ok recently i purchased a mpc2000xl, and it seems like im having a problem sampling into the mpc from a any source, ex cd player, tape player, etc. when i come out the cd player and go into the record in on the mpc, everything looks fine. but when i play the cd player, the sample overloads, and a loud static comes through, and overloads. i can hear the sample wanting to play, but it so over loaded that i cant even bring the volume up! i tried to switch wires, that doesnt seem to be the problem and the record gain and the volume is all the way down. i previously owened a mpc and i have never seen this before. akai couldnt even help me. so im reaching out and hopefully someone has had this problem and got it fixed. SO IM ASKING FOR SOME HELP?? ANYONE

you need to be more specific.

you're running cd directly to mpc? no preamp, right?
what does the waveform look like in trim mode? clipped? weird artifacts?

does it sound the same on headphones as over the sound system?

what kind of cd is this? Did you burned it by yourself? If so then are you sure you burned in audio CD format?
You can simply test this by playing the cd in any cd player without the MPC in between. Oh and anothe Question. How did you connect the CD Player to the MPC??

The cd player outs is going directly into the record in on the mpc. no preamp its a regular cd, from the store. has samples on it i would like to use, but when you hit play on the cd player the wave maxes out on the screen in sample mode. i cant here nothing but a hiss. the wave looks like a solid block in trim mode. i hear sumfin if i put the volume all the way up, but it still has the hiss sound, that over powers the mpc. sounds the same on the head phones too.. the cd plays fine when played out the speakers. so i know its not the cd. i tried a bunch of them too... still get the same problem. evverything loads right zip, floppy, plays out fine too .. but i cant sample new sounds. please if you got any additional info on this it would be great help.

damn. that's frustrating. it doesn't look like you're doing anything wrong there. it might require servicing.

only things i can think of are: is the sound somehow feeding back from the outs or somewhere?
are there any filters/eq set up to effect the incoming signal?

have you tried plugging devices other than the cd player into the record in.

i was thinking the same thing but, it dont seem that way. i guess im off to drop it off somewhere to get serviced. this makes no sense at all. i had a mpc and i never encountered a problem like this. i tried my tape machine and a dvd player too, and still got the same results. but i appreciate the help. funny thing is akai couldnt even help me. they said they never heard of anything like this. . i guess no one has.

nah the wires are not crossed. the input seems nice and tight. i was thinking about opening it today, and see whats going on in there but, i dont know what to do, when i do go in there to play with it. funny thing is, the anolog, when highlighted does not spin around to digital, its stuck on analog. it has worked prior to this point.. i apprecaite the help anything else you can think off..
