Pad's getting confused

I was recording a bass line with one bass sample, that I assigned to 4 different pads, then made each pad have a different pitch (the 12 level pitch was sounding off). When I'm recording, everything sounds fine, the notes are all sounding good, but then, after, when I play it back, the main note I use sounds a lot lower than it is supposed to. It sounds like MAYBE it's getting mixed up with a different note? Or maybe something else is happening?...

I've tried, many times, to just erase the notes and re-record the bass line (because the notes sound right when played alone, and while I record (with the song in the background) but then when I go to play it again, the main note is in a completely different pitch.)
12 Levels has been off the whole time. And I haven't used the slider.

If you have any idea what's going on, or if you've experienced this before (sorry for sounding like a medicine/asbestos removal/lawyer commercial) please write and tell me what you know.

(there are commercials like "If you or a loved one is being exposed to asbestos" or "If you or someone you know has been in a car accident, we can give them a tax cut" or some stupid thing like that) but anyway, please help, cause i'd like to continue working on this song

an update. to further investigate (sorry for sounding like.. CSI) i took the samples off the pads in the program.
no noise.
then i added a snare sample to the pad that's pitch was getting messed up.
no noise.
THEN i added a snare sample to another pad, (the one that, as i now know, was replacing the other pads sound)

to summarize:

when i record with one pad, it sounds fine. but when i play it back, the sound of ANOTHER pad is in it's place.


i'm not making any stupid mistakes, like physically hitting the wrong pad with the side of my hand. i even tested this whole thing by not doing the bassline, and just hitting that one pad. still, the sound of a different pad is coming up.

well, not really.
but i just wanted to let you know i fixed it. the problem is solved. BUT i still don't know why that was happening.

(to fix it i just switched the sounds, so that the "wrong" pad was now the right one.)

but i'll still leave this up in case someone is having the same problem/has any ideas as to why its happening

yeah.. weird problem though. it just happened again this morning. i had to switch the samples back again...

one thought i had was that you might have accidentally recording a certain bass note on a different track without knowing (not saying your stupid or anything, it happened to me once.)

meaning that like, i assum you have the basssline on a seperate track, but there might be a lone bass note on a nother track that got recorded accidentally or something. mute the track with the bass on it and see if any of the bass samples still play....that way you know that there are some notes on other tracks....

just a thought, not saying thats wats goin on. also, check to make sure your not layering sounds on one pad as well...and i know you said its NOT the slider, but its worth looking under the slider screeen if you haven't yet, i've heard that slider thing turns on auto for a few people on here, there were some thread were fools were trippin cas they had no idea what was goin on

feel like Ice T on the show, just spittin out random info that you know in the end will actually help...haha

make sure your pads and samples are not sharing the same notes. this will cause them to be confused. make sure they go up scale, if you just copied a sample, it could have taken a presetting with it and messed everything up.
