Hi guys I've been checking out allot of your home studio pictures. On the other threads and I notice quite a bit of you guys have two or even three separate MPC s.

Well ive got a 5000 and can get 1000 for really cheap right now like 300 bucks!!! so should i go for it?

I was thinking about putting all kicks on one mpc and all snares on the other, and organization type stuff, memory ect.

What are some of your techniques and what is the purpose you would use two MPCs.

Even if you don't have two mpcs, leave a reply on what you think would be an advantage in your studios. or just some Cool ideas if you could have this luxury.

Thanks.....

+1. That's all it is. Instead of having two different mpc's, try using another sampler to give your drums and samples a different color.

TRUE DAT! What my man up above ^^^^^^^^ just said! I am trying to get my hands on another SP1200 or MPC 3000 to get that lo-fi sound that I love. Other than an MPC60 or 3000, I can't really see the value of having two modern MPC's, at least in my setup? Unless you travel a lot of course?

I was incredibly stupid back in like 2000, I sold my SP1200 because I had my MPC2000 and really wasn't using the SP anymore and didn't see the inevitable sound quality improvement/change that would occur in the near future and thus did not foresee the value in having lo-fi equipment. Not too mention the collector aspect of it all?

I will find one soon!

IF you buy the 1k you will get JJ Operating System to it, which brings a lot of features that doesnt exist in the 5k.

The reason i have two MPCs is because i need the midi outputs i have three sound moduals and mad vsti's in side of nuendo i can control up to six separate intruments at one time and i can sequence all inside my mpc until i am done then track it. I can get the sound i want out of any mpc the lo-fi is a self thing (plus you can lofi in your daw)some people care about the old sound but it really does not matter if your selling a track. an artist is not going to say did you use an mpc 60 or a mpc 5000 they dont care if the beat is good. In atlanta people sell tracks off fruity loops, personally i seen a close producer buddy sell one for $3500 and thats how he gets down. and also if you have say a good channel strip or mic preamp with that phat analog sound run your mpc threw that then to your daw and BELIEVE ME you will hear the difference in your drums.
Also tweak every sound in the mpc before you track. this is just what works for me.

Let me know if I get something wrong, but actually you can control up to 16 instruments with ONE MIDI output! So what's the use of having two MPC's only for MIDI? I control 6 and 3 parts of my two Electribes, a Novation Drumstation, Korg M1, Alpha Juno 2, 2 soundmodules and 32 parts of my S5000 sampler with 4 MIDI outs. That equals 46 individual external instruments that are controlled by ONE MPC!

MIDI patchbay is the way to go! 8)
