I bought my mpc 1000 black off craigslist about 6 weeks ago...It's in mint condition ..the person told me he got it almost 2 years ago..My question is how can I tell if I have the new pads or the old ones...my mpc pads feel like the display models that i've tested at most of the music shops in nyc...Thanks for any help.

gently pull on a corner pad away from the center of the pad portion of the face of your mpc and if the adjacent pad doesnt move at all then you have the old pads. this is because the new pads are one continuous piece of rubber while the old ones are discreet. but be careful

I guess I have the old pads..I see no movement..Are the problems with the old pads always an issue?..in other words is it guaranteed that I'm gonna have this problem down the road?..Thanks for your help..

the problems will arise if you pound on your pads. once they break inside youll have a hard time getting any decent velocity sensitivity out of them. the pad fix is a good investment, and who knows how long it will be around for sale!

oh to be sure youll have to remove the cover to see if the pads are all the same part or separate

I opened up my mpc 1000 today... I have the old pads..But since my machine was never used by its previous owner I think I'll wait a year before I upgrade..180 bucks can be used for something else this year...

I just opened an MPC i got off craigslist yesterday ... got it for 575 ... so not a bad deal ... found out quickly that I had the old pads when i was hitting the pads and pad 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,and 8 would sometimes trigger pad 16 (outrageous!). the pads are also individual rather then a sheet of 16 ...

Just ordered new pads ... give this baby some fresh legs ...
but my story is living proof that all 1000-bks with os 2.11 dont have new pad installed

I live by the motto ... dont really own it until i open it!

Just need to vent.

I JUST BOUGHT A USED BLACK MPC1000 OFF OF EBAY AND IT HAS THE FREAKING OLD PADS!!!!

Hmmmm...

$455 + $187 (pad upgrade) = $642
$642 might be worth it for a used MPC1000 with new pads. It's still $300 less than brand new.

I knew this was gonna happen to me.

Sucks!

hard luck.

when I was looking on ebay before I got mine I always asked the seller to check the pads, with a link to the instructions on this site. nothing stopped them lying, but I asked anyway. In the end I didn't get it via ebay anyway.

out of interest, is the back plate (with all the in/out jacks and power socket etc.) black or some other colour (silver?)
