I formatted a brand new kingston 2gb Compact Flash card with the MPC5000 CF card format utility.
I copied the OS to the compact flash using the USB as per instructions.

I keep getting errors invalid file system on CF, and invalid OS file and a couple of times invalid FAT error when
I hold down buttons 2 and 3 on power on/off sequence.

What gives?

Could you lend/buy another CF card, just to be sure the one you have isn't the trouble maker?

This is simple... you still have the file zipped, or in a folder... only the main file needs to be on the root, not inside of any folders

Well, he writes "as per instructions" so I'll take it he unzipped the file and putted it on the main directory? We'll see. :)

I recently bought a Kingston 2GB CF-card and am also having problems with it.
No problems with Sandisk Ultra II.
I do not know what the problem is with the Kingston card though... I've put it into my digital camera, there it works fine

Yes I unzipped the file and put the bin file in the root directory of the card. I did exactly what the directions said to do.

If it is a problem with the Kingston cards, I will run out and buy different brand of card later today and try that.

I was thinking it was a bad card as well.

Thanks, and please let us know how it went.

I went out and bought a PNY 1GB compact flash card, and went through the OS install with success!

Guess those Kingston 2GB Compact flash cards are incompatible crapola. Thats what I get for buying the cheapest card.

Thanks again for the help!
