looped samples

hi guys, just a quick one... does the 500 recognise sample loop points that i've set in sample editing software beforehand? Thanks

I think if its a rex file... Because that file type stores that kind of info. Though I'm not sure at all curious to know this answer as well.

i didn't know mpc loaded rex files? I've never tried to load one. I just mean normal loop point information that you can set in editing software that's stored as part of the wav file. For example i've sampled loads of pads that i've set loop points for so when you hold the key down the sample plays up to the loop point and then just cycles a small part of the wave over and over and keep playing on an old rack sampler until you release. Does the 500 recognise that kind of loop point? Thanks.

rex files can be wavs if you export them and I think they keep the loop information. Have not really messed around with looping in the 500 yet I do that stuff in Pro Tools.

Yours is a good question.

You can do what you're talking about within the 500, but I'm unaware of it recognizing loop points saved by software apps. Maybe it can recognize them, but I don't know what those programs are that can create them.

With regard to rex, MPC500 doesn't load rex files. You can export individual slices and a midi file from Recycle and import into MPC500.

hi guys, thanks, yeah i knew about the exporting rex files thing, but yeah i meant just having a sample sustain through a loop that i've already set in software for as long as you keep note on. Yeah i thought you could do it from within the 500, but i haven't had a go cos that means doing them all again by ear, which is fine, but lots of work! I use Bias Peak as my sample editor and would recommend it, it's really versatile with loads of dsp stuff you can do to samples, plus you can use all your vst or audio unit plug-in fx within it to apply dynamics, fx, whatever and then bounce it straight to a new file. You can also set loop points that are saved as part of the wav file. I don't know if it beat chops as i don't really do that, i'll have to check if anyone's interested, but check it out if you haven't come across it.
