Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi All,

I just got a microkorg to use with my MPC 2000xl via midi. I have it hooked up by handshaking the midi connections:

MIDI OUT from MK to MIDI IN of MPC
MIDI OUT from MPC to MIDI IN of MK

I can sequence the MK's sounds on the MPC by playing the keys on my Microkorg but I would like the MK's arpeggiator to sync with the timing on my MPC and I haven't been able to figure out how to do it.

Any idea how I can do this? Is it possible?

Thanks for any help in advance!

No clue regarding the appeggiator. But would you please write down the settings you choose on the MPC and the MK, so that you can record sequences from the MK to the MPC. I didn't bother too much with that, since the MK is not multitimbral (I record my MK-tracks to the PC directly), but it would be nice to know the settings.

I can't speak specifically for the Microkorg but I would say that, like my Nord Rack 2, the Korg may need a MIDI clock to run it's arpeggiator to.

So, you could try setting your MPC to output a MIDI clock signal - go into MIDI/SYNC page and set the "Sync out" "mode" value to "MIDI CLOCK" (also setting the "Out:" value to the MIDI output on which your Korg is connected). Now when, the MPC's transport is running your Korg should be recieving a clock signal to run the arpeg to.

I figured it out with some help from reading the manual and some peeps on the forums. I have midi sync out set on the MPC and then you have to set the MK's midi settings to Ext or Aut. Works like a charm though. Even the arpeggiator is now syncing with the mpc....dope.

Thanks!
