jjos is dope and all but id only go for the 1000 if you needed something a bit more portable.
i rock a 1000 and keep a 500 for when i go out of town for work and shit.
$300 sounds like a good deal tho if its got some upgrades and is clean.

I can only think of pro's when I think about having two mpc's. Even if u have two of the same mpc's. A spare mpc or an mpc for spare parts is never a bad idea IMO.

I have an 1k but I'm still planning to buy another one. Probably a 2500 or 3000 as my main studio equipment, and my 1k for on the go.

yea 300$ for a 1k is crazy mad cheap is there anything wrong with it?

I have two modern mpc's 2500 and a 1k along side my sp1200.

I use the 1k as a "travel" mpc. Take it with me to lunch at work to a friends house etc.

i have 2 classic 2000s, but i use one for spare parts in case something breaks on the first one (like i had to replace my screen a few years ago).

At one point in my lab i had 2 2000s, a 1k and a 60 all at once.

for using MIDI I see absolutely no reason to need another MPC...4 MIDI out's on MPC5000 means 64 channels of midi info..I can't believe anyone uses more then 64 sounds/synths at the same time LOL

I would suggest you read up on what MIDI is before shelling out extra money
(allthough 300$ is nothing)

Yeah. I use two MPCs. Well actually, I have two separate setups. I have a 4k in my main studio. In my smaller setup, I have my 1k maxed out with latest JJOS, a MIDI keyboard and a couple of groovebox-type machines that I use as sound modules. I actually bought an MPC1000 about a year after it came out (the blue and red one) but it was very limited so I got rid of it and got the 4k. After I found out about the JJOS and hard drive upgrade options, I bought another 1k (this time a nice black one), and I'm keeping this one. As a result of the JJOS, the 1k is a killer MPC now and it's also portable.

While the 4k's a studio-only MPC, I sometimes take my 1k over to a friend's house and lay down a beat. I got the 1k not only for my second little setup, but also to serve as a backup MPC if the 4k ever breaks down. I hope that never happens though.

Now, the downside to having the MPC1k, 4k combination is the fact the programs and sequences are incompatible between the two machines. I have to use a third-party software to convert my MPC1k programs to use them in my MPC4k.

Other than that, I find it nice to have two separate MPC setups in two different environments with different external midi gear (soundsets). I tend to come up with different sounding beats in each setup.

I've owned 3 MPC's at one time. A 2500, 2000XL, and a 500.
Why? Because I got the XL for $100.00, and the 500 for $200.00. Cheap investments, you can always sell em later for more money..
Besides getting them for cheap prices, musically, the 2000XL and the 500 do nothing but collect dust.
I'd buy another MPC if I found it for a cheap price. If you can't make beats with a single MPC, having two of them will not make anything better...just more frustrating.. :)
