JJ Users Opinions Please

I placed this in the comparison area but I've had no responses. Hopefully I'll get some now.

man this type of thread seriously pops up everyday, which i'm guessing is why you didn't get a response.

it's as simple as this: try both (jjos and mpc 5000) and see what you like. you can install the jjos and explore and use all of the options (although you wont be able to save). you can go to any music store (guitar center, sam ash, etc.) and try out a 5000. asking for advice will only get you so far, what it comes down to is what you like more, and what you can see yourself using more.

now for advice, if it were me, i'd get the jjos, hdd and call it a day. you don't need pads or backlight to do your thing unless you've got money to blow. this will get you the most bang for your buck (prob around $200 for both) since you already have the 1000.

BUT TRY BOTH FIRST!

See, that's the part the sucks. No GC near me even has the 5K, and I haven't even demo'd one in over a year. Bang for the buck,(which has been the story of my studio), I'd definately keep my 1k but the 5k has my eye. I guess I'm intregued by it because the similarities of my Fusion. Thanks for the reply. What you say makes sense.

word. if you really want your answer, take a trip to a store that would have the 5000 dude.

i drove 2 hours for my first set of technics... and sat in 4 hours of traffic on the way home!

gotta satisfy that urge one way or another.

if you're going for bang for the buck... why would you want to overlap a feature set that you essentially already have?

5000 is a bloated piece of krap designed by akai soley to grab the most money possible out of peoples wallets.

also, it has a very serious bug: akai does the os.


don't judge the 1000 until you've tried either os 2 or 2xl.
os 3.08 is in the stone ages compared to what the JJ os is capable of now.

Information on the JJ os seems to change by the day (especially on here), so I'm feeling the o.p's situation. My 2500 arrived two days ago with 3.09 installed which already is a huge improvement over the Akai os on my 2Kxl. I just want to upgrade to a payed for JJ os in the next month or so, but from what I have read I think os 2 would suit me best.

I think I must have overloaded my little brain over the past few weeks, because i'm sure I read that you can only buy 2xl now. Is this correct? I also read in another thread that 2xl comes with os 1 and 2, although changing between them is limited.

Is there a definitive answer to this as there is a lot of contradictory information?

This is one of the reasons why we need a JJ OS-Wiki.
