Does anybody know what type of balanced outputs the MPC2500 uses? My guess would be it's what some call a pseudo-balanced output, where you just have anti-phase signals on the hot and cold rather than using a transformer. I'm guessing most music instruments will use pseudo-balanced and only true balancing/DI boxes will give a transformer balanced output...
I want to connect it to unbalanced inputs and the correct wiring differs depending on how the output circuit works. For anybody who doesn't understand the differences look at page 26 of this:

A fairly safe, usable in all situation solution is to solder a 100Ohm resister between the cold and shield.
