Problem controlling MPC via MIDI Keyboard

I am trying to use my axiom 49, and mpd32 to control my mpc w/ os2xl, and cannot get them to send midi signals to the mpc, or maybe its the mpc not accepting the midi signals, i have tried three known good cables so it cannot be that. my settings under the midi/sync mode are set to:
Active track recieve: ALL
Soft thru: AS TRACK
Seq change by prog: OFF
MIDI out after: NO
I tried both midi IN ports and still nothing. Am I missing something here? Thanks

I hate to ask since it sounds like you know what you're doing... but you are going midi out from the mpd/axiom to midi in on the MPC?

yes midi out on the axiom/mpd to midi in on the mpc, tried both midi in 1 and 2 and I am not getting anything.

can anyone help me here?

Make sure that your keyboard is in a mode that sends MIDI from the tradition midi port, and NOT from USB while you have it in this particular configuration.

Look in your manual. There is setting on sending info from usb or from the traditional port.
