Extremely Weak Signals - whos got the cure?

Hi sup everyone on this forum!!

I recently got the mpc2500 and currently sampling from cd's. Im having a lot of problems with the volume levels of the cd samples.

I usually rip/burn the CD to my PC, chop in Audacity and send to the mpc. however, the general volume of the samples are very very low, with headphones i can hear the samples very well but when i switch to monitors they can barely be heard. Same goes with my drum samples - (do i need to layer/stack the drums up in order to hear them properly???)

Do i need to 'boost' the signal of the cd samples if so how on my pc?

I will be very thankful for anyone who can help me out??

raise the volume of the mpc!!!
or check the velocities

yeah, boost the signal with a preamp.

thanks for your replies. Normalize helped. It wasnt anything to do with the volume levels or velocities.

I still aint happy with the actual strength of the samples even after normalizing. I could only attach a preamp if i was using a cd mixer to the mpc. But i only use (at the moment) the MPC with my PC for transfering samples, etc.

Does anyone know any gd suggestions so that i can really boost the signal of the samples even more? is there any free plugins online that could help me with 'boosting the signals' of cd samples from my PC???

y would u need a pre amp with a line level?

do you have a strong signal coming into the mpc while u sample?

i was reffering to beach_break's comment on the preamp.

At the moment i sample from cds, i ripped them onto the pc, chop and normalize in audacity and transfer to the mpc. I just want to know whether there is a method i can boost the signal of my samples more??
