wanna mix in pc......

Wassup fam.....
I'm looking to start mixing my music in the pc(for ease,added effects,and ability to burn cd's).I currently have str8-80 to boss sp303 to dj mixer to mpc1k.I plan on getting a midi keyboard controller and a sound module to add to my setup.What do I need to track and mix/master on the pc.I already have N-Track Studio(for those that don't know of it,it's a very good /cheap program).Any and all replies are appreciated.

I use cubase sx it does everything I need and more

Here's what I think:
- with the MPC1000 and the keyboard controller you plan to buy, you have all the MIDI power you need, you can control other synths from there.
- so: following the "Keep It Simple, Stupid (KISS) rule, you can keep MIDI off the PC altogether. No MIDI interfaces, no Sync worries - the MPC is the MIDI master.
Then, your PC program needs to do audio only, you don't need to go the expensive Cubase/Sonar/Logic route on the PC. Suggested multitrack programs:
- Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/audition/) = commercial. (Formerly sold as Cool Edit Pro.)
- Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) = free. Audacity also has a Recycle-like "Beat Finder" function.
- WaveLab also has a lot of fans here, I'm told.
These can all do powerful multitrack audio mixing, stretching, chopping, envelopes, FX plugins, etc.
I keep telling folks here about Audacity, tho I also use Audition myself

But that's just my opinion: I could be wrong...

Is the beat finder in Audacity easier to use than manually doing it in Cool Edit Pro 2 (i just highlight samples - copy them to new - then save)...I heard ReCycle is awesome because it has some sort of chop function that partly automates the process; I would like to try it but don't want to drop the crills

So far, I'm still used to the Audition method too. The Audacity Beat Finder is a bundled plug-in, I can't actually see any docs for it. I'll spend more time with it later.

frankly, Cool Edit Pro 2.0 is the most awesome program ever. I use soundforge in conjunction cause i find some effects/functions take longer in CE than in SF. my 2 cents
