How can I speed up a sample without changing the tempo??????

Man I been watching youtube and I seen a couple of people including Pete Rock that chop up a sample and play it back by hitting the 16 pads, then they start adjusting something to where the sample starts to go faster and faster until the producer finds the speed that they want the sample at and it plays at that speed. I have a sample I chopped up and right now its going slow and I want to know how can I speed it up without having to make my 95.0 tempo go up?????

He was basically chopping the sample into such tiny pieces that he was able to increase the tempo of the beat while playing it back. It's the beat tempo that's going faster, not the sample itself.

you can adjust the tuning in trim mode to make it faster and then use time stretch.

You need to chop it in pieces small as 8th or 16th notes. Then you just need to speed up the tempo of the sequencer. Its NOT done with timestrech, tuning or stuff like that.

it is that way (tuning in trim mode, time stretch) if you don't want the tempo to go up like he said.

no peterpiper nailed it. in that peterock vid he just has the sample chopped up so small that it doesnt matter what tempo it is. it has nothing to do with timestretch. not in this case anyway

are you guys serious? i know he referred to the pete rock video but it was a pointless reference. he is actually not trying to do what pete rock did.

if he's talking about the same pete rock video everybody talks about, pete speed up the sample because its chopped into 8ths (if i remember correctly) and he just upped the tempo to make it sound faster. he wasnt looking to match or keep to an exact tempo. just speed it up.

but this guy asked how you speed up the sample NOT the tempo. choppin the sample and adjusting tempo like your saying is pointless if he wants to keep it at specifically 95 bpm.

there's gonna be tuning and/or time stretch involved.
