mpc sonar = ?

so i cant seem to record what im playin on my mpc through sonar im connecting it through the midi and audio line out and in i have a tascam u-122L audio interface

the interface recognizes the mpc and sonar recognizes that the audio interface is active but i cant seem to figure it out

some help or tips,hint would be gladly appreciated thank you

Okay I'ma help you figure this thing out, no worries. I'm not one of those hit-it-and-quit-it posters, I'm witcha. Sonar used to be my beast and my burden, Reaper+my 1k is my new setup of choice. However, I recorded everything we ever did before I got my mpc in Sonar, so I've had to learn to make it work.
A few questions first:

-Are you going to track your mixes out? Or, are you going to record everything in one pass?

-Do you know how to midi sync your mpc and sucknar? If you're recording in one pass it would probably be easiest to set sonar as master and your mpc as slave.

-You know to start a new project in sonar, set the project tempo to match your mpc, right?

-You know to "insert audio track" in sonar, then select your input source as the stereo input on the tascam?

If you do all this, you should just arm the audio track and hit record. I got the old-school tascam us-122(only as a backup now), and it works like this. We can do this.

on the mpc (sync out) is on (midi clock) and the (sync in) is off both (mmc's) are off

I read on here that if sonar was the slave that it wouldn't replay any audio, but I tried it myself. The results were different all three attempts, same settings(jeez). One time, the tempo played back at least doubled, the next time the mpc was triggering samples in the wrong spots in the sequence, and the other time it just played and recorded an annoying loud hum.

I got it to work by settng the mpc as slave to sonar. Give that a go, and if that doesn't work, I'm thinking it's a cabling issue. Does your mpc play (now time moving)when synced to a DAW?

tascam's midi out->mpc's midi in, of course. In sonar go to view, toolbars, and make sure sync is checked. Then , on the sync toolbar click the midi sync button. On your mpc, hit mode + pad 9 , sync , sync in to 1 or 2 whichever plug you got your tascam midi out hooked to. Hit record in sonard, mpc starts playin'.

Damnit. Can you explain your cable situation to me? Do you hear audio when the mpc is NOT hooked up to sonar?

the cable situation is

record L/R from the mpc to the back of the tascam line out L/R

then midi in 1 from the mpc to midi out on the tascam



right now i think im realizing i gotta put stereo out L/R ? no ? lmao

You have to run line OUT of the mpc to line IN of the tascam. I think you just described the opposite of that.
