I just have a quick question. How do you go about recording using your MPC as the slave and Protools as the master? C, what I do first is record some bass and snare ect , onto the 001. then I take my mpc (slave) which has guitar sounds all on all the banks, and try to record onto protools. My problem is when I push play on protools, so I can hear the drums that I recorded, I can’t hear the music from my mpc at the same time. The only time I can hear the music from my mpc, is when Protools is recording or when no music is playing at all. If I record everything on the mpc first (drums snare, stuff from my keyboard ect.) everything is kool, because I just have everything going through my 8 outs into digi001. I guess the question is, how do you record from the mpc to protools if you don’t prerecord everything first on the mpc. Remember, that the MPC would be full of just (guitar sounds. What’s your technique? What do you think is the easiest way to record. If you can’t answer my questing, that’s kool, but I’d appreciate any kind of feed back..

The question isn't, "... how do you record from the mpc to protools...". The question is: why record from the MPC to Pro Tools? You state, "...If I record everything on the mpc first (drums snare, stuff from my keyboard ect.) everything is kool...". What's the problem? Turn off the computer and get back to making music.

I don't understand your dilemma. Are you trying to listen to your protools sequence and the mpc simultaneously or are you trying to sync the two so you can record separate, synched tracks

Lets say I want to make a whole beat on the mpc. I then fill up all the banks with drum sounds. Then lets say I wanted to add some guitar sounds to my beat. Now keep in mind that the guitar sounds take up all the banks as well. So I would have to delete all the drums sounds unless I were to upload each sound individually. How would I go about having the drum sounds and the guitar sounds @ playback @ the same time. That's one of the reasons I wanted to make the drum sounds on the mpc, then record them on protools. Then I would delete the drum sounds on the mpc (after they've been recorded on protools of course). Then I would upload the guitar sounds on the mpc (which takes up all the banks). My problem comes in when I hit play on protools and listen to the drums, I then can't hear the guitar sounds from the mpc.
