Timing Tips

Hello,
i am searching for some tricks how i can make easy a good grooving hip hop beat with the mpc 2500.

Always record on the lowest setting with no plugins active. Then when you are ready to mix, bump this up. If you record with active plugins, make sure they aren't really processor hungry and cause a lot of latency! :wink:

Man, I posted that comment in your other thread from the other day when you had the problem with your drums recording delayed. That thread seems to have been deleted and the mods seemed to have moved my post to this thread where it makes absolutely no sense at all! :?

Don't quantize. It gives it a human feel instead of sounding stiff.

Leave a little bit of air before the atack point of the drumsounds. u can experience with velocity attack.

Most of the times I start with the snare with the t.c. on. that's my metronome for the track. All the other stuff I record without using quantize, and correct the timing when I'm not satisfied with the results. In the end of the process I re record my snare track without t.c.

U can also use different swings with every track. It's just trial and error till u find the results ur looking for.

i am searching for those examples till i am a "tight drummer" haha i will see..
and do you programm your drum groove first or after the idea of instruments?
