midi wont play

I have the older 1000 (the blue and red one) and my keyboard (Motif es7) only works in the sample mode. When I switch to the sequence mode to record a track the sound wont play from the keyboard. I seem to have everything hooked up correctly, any trouble shooting issues I may be missing?

go into the mixer and put the audio in to thru.

Thanks I will give it a try,I'm ashamed to say how long I've had it just sitting fresh out the box getting no play=it's brand new.

well you don't have to admit it... but do tell...

More than 365 days the newer one was not even out yet, caught it on sale @ guitar center. I just don't sample and if I did I can use my Motif es7, so it just sat.

I went to my friends studio in AZ and he had the 2500. When I got back to Detroit I had to hook this dumb thing up. I love the warmer drum sound of a MPC.

Sounds a bit like me... was a laptop jokey for a long time with Ableton Live (since 1.0), bought the 1k a long while back and it pretty much sat around. Once I got serious about learning the MPC I've all but quit using Ableton Live. Software certainly has it's uses, but man, it can be such a headache too.... and I've always had a piece or two of hardware and it is nice to be able to just put your hands on some knobs/sliders/keys without having to constantly map/unmap them.

Kind of interested in the 5k for this reason, but the features don't really speak to me. Maybe v2 or the next one will be more up my alley.
