Aight I'm diggin the black on black steeze. I been thinking about customizing mine I'm too scared I might fukk shit up inside my MPC.

Rebel, I had exactly the same concerns ... but let me allay those fears for you. It is very easy to open the case and remove the parts that you need to - everything pops off with the minimum of force. Infact, you would need to a be a real heavy-handed oaff to do any damage inside the unit.

Just make sure you sand the surfaces of those bits you want to spray properly and then use a plastic base prima spray before spraying your final colours ( the paints then stick to the prima ).

I must warn you that I did have some trouble with Gold pray paint, though ... despite trying three different lots, they would not stick to the prima properly at all. Hence my unit ended up all black as a consequence - I did have anice black and gold design in mind to begin with ...

Gold and silver are weird.. I think it might have something to do with them being metallic.

Good question. I have the black pads but didn't like the 'response' of the pads. I actually changed back over the weekend to the gray pads I got with the pad upgrade. The jury is still out because I haven't been able to spend hours on them. But as a few weeks go by I'll have something more tangible to clarify my investigation. I got mine from VST.

ahhhh no gold...i hear ya,its hard to spray gold and chrome and get the effect you want,,,looks super clean man,,,u should fix ur slider though,,get some paint thinner and a napkin and start rubbing,it will come right off,(and i know u wished it wasnt there),,u know me,im the red guy,,but im diggin all the stealth looks!!!!!

... I can only give you my take on my replacement pads from MPCStuff. I can tell you that I have held both sets of pads in my hands, the grey original and the new black set. I can also confirm that the black set are slightly thinner and lighter than the heavier, thicker original greys ( no doubt about this to my mind ). My comment about the rubber being slightly softer and smoother feeling holds true to me - for that is what I felt and still do everytime I now touch my MPC. So, this is no placebo effect.

As regards responsiveness, that could be argued either way. I just find them a little easier on the fingers and I don't seem to need to bang the darn things so hard to get the level I want ... but that could be just my imagination

Hiphoppa, I wonder if your black pads are made by the same manufacturer as the one's supplied to me by MPCStuff.com ?

I could never see myself changing these nice feeling black pads back to those overly hard original grey ones .... I just couldn't.

Would be interesting to find this one out - I would assume that despite the different supplier, the pads would more or less come from the same place. Afterall, the MPC is still a fairly samll niche market ?

Just to throw this out there about BLACK VS GREY--

It sounds like there have been some different production runs of both the black and grey pads, with minor variances in material and thickness for each run. Don't assume that all black pads are one way or another, and same with the greys.

My personal experience is don't buy the black pads for improved response, it waas the least effective thing I did to improve pad feel.
