like what was stated, the sound... a better velocity and aftertouch on the pads, VCF filter... it is built like a tank, made in japan vs made in china... the jjos is a beast though, but if you have a computer already then you can do all your edits there, add fx's etc...

I'd do it and cop a 1000 later...you can get the 3.5 OS and then get a spyrus card reader to save to your computer etc.

just be patient and learn the machine before freaking out, like the others said the 2500 will go down in price a nice 3000 will hold it's value

but really, don't pay 250 on top of it

A used 2500 over here is around £750, whereas a used 3000LE is around £1000... do the maths. :roll:

jno i was under the impression that the 3000 didn't have AFTERTOUCH, both for internal sounds or outgoing midi?

does the 3000 send continuous aftertouch messages from its midi outputs?

my bad NYM about the aftertouch, it's not like the aftertouch on the 1k or the other newer models...

can't, cause there isn't...haha, can't even hold down the pad to modulate a sound, on aftertouch keyboard you can, sorry for the mis-info, should of put "velocity and pressure sensitive..."

i have the 3k,4k,and the 5k.believe me keep the 2500!u will miss all the feature ull lose with the 3k1im telling u .and there is no difference between the le and classic 3k.dont f@#k yourself.real talk.

In 2005 I sold my MPC 3000LE (mint condition) and used the money to purchase the MPC 2500 (Akai OS 1.01). Afer using the MPC 2500, I would never go back to an MPC 3000 LE.

the MPC 2500 effects are crappy as hell, i never really used them.
the only 2 features i would miss is the waveform editing and grid edit.

still have a day or two to make the decision, atm i think i'll get both just for a week or two and after i work with both i'll sell one.

i think that's the best option

now, where can I get a credit...:P

Yo muggin, I had the same dillema. I've decided to wait till I run into a nice 3000.
The reason why I want a 3000 over the 2500 is the sound. I miss something in the drumsounds when I sample them in my 1k.
So if u decide to loose the 3000 in the near future then I'm intrested man.

As much as I love the 3000, I'd say to look at the 3000 as another useful piece of gear. If you can, I would just add the 3000 to your current setup.

Like it was suggested above, I would pick up on of the S2000/3000 series of samplers and use it to sample my drums and then send the sounds over to the 2500.

You get the best of both worlds -- the 3000's sound plus the functionality of the MPC 2500. Plus with the money you saved by not buying a MPC3000, you could buy a ton of vinyl to sample from.
