i'm new to the 500 but not to mpcs I've got a 1000 and never had this problem.
I'm trying to sequence my 500 to the 1000s sequencer so my samples are on the 500 and i'm sequencing with the 1000.

prob is it doesn't work and I know I must be missing something, i have been over and over the 500s manual and can't seem to figure it out, it doesn't even have a section on using an outside sequencer but it does have a midi section short like one page or so anyway i want to hook it up to my 1000 just like my other gear can someone who has successfully sequenced the 500 with another sequencer give me the steps for setting up the 500 please?

I've gone into mode+midi and done everything i can think of.

thanks

i've got both machines midi channels on (all) so the 500 should receive, I've checked the midi cables and I just can't figure this out, besides midi channel what are the settings on your 500 for when you sequence with ableton?

yes I've got the mpc 500 as slave and the mpc-1000 as master, I just did that cause I didn't know if it would help or not but I know a tiny bit about midi and that shouldn't matter when I'm just trying to press the pads on the 500 and use the 1000s sequencer, I'm not trying to sync both sequencers I don't want to use the 500 sequencer at all, everything else I hookup to the 1000s midi ports just works, I don't know why i'm having trouble with the 500

Cant you just save urself the trouble and put the samples on the 1k? Ive been looking thru the manual but I cant find it, it only explains how to slave it. Check from page 59 in the manual urself to be sure.

The pads on the 500 should match the pads on the 1000 MIDI wise. In program mode (of th 500) you can set the MIDI key of a pad, do the same on the 1000. Set a track on the 1000 to example channel4 and set program to off. On the 500 set a track to channel 4 to. Now you do have to stay on that track for it to work, if you go to another track on the 500 it wont work.
