Ipod

What yall think of getting an ipod for bringin around your tunes to sample from studio, to home to wherever, not to mention having it for everything else..

sampling from an mp3 cant be much worse vs vinyl if u add some compression and eq ?

iPods are dope my ladies sister got one.

I think you can store audio in raw WAV or AIFF on it as well right?
Low bitrate mp3 might give some extra grit to your samples but I personally don't like the mp3 distortion and artifacts at low bitrates.

An iPod is a good idea.
They are very useful for storing mixed tracks and even for transfporting whole sessions for mixing. They can store MP3s and AIFF/WAVs and any other computer files.

My buddy uses one and I do too.

Can it record with a mic?

Can't record with a mic yet.
I assume that there will be a high quality option soon. There's a cheapie jawn already. But, I'm always think, RECORD when we use the word, record.

if you need a device that can record take a look at the iRiver products. The have iPod style mp3 players that have digital in and out and can record in wav and mp3. It has an internal mike but you can connect an external mike to it as well. I have the 40GB version and it rocks. Sound quality is better then the iPod and it can play ogg vorbis files as well. It's also just a bit cheaper then the iPod. The iPod does look a lot better however :-)
