I havent gotten my 2500 as of yet but should be getting it next week, but when I went into guitar center and messed with one and saw how bad the wheel was it kinda made me regret getting rid of my 4000. The good thing is that it has the [-] and [+] buttons. So we shall see how much that will help.

The majority of the service manuals, including both the 2k and 2k5, are in this thread (assuming current links. I downloaded the 2k5 one the other day so that should still be good.)

I'll have a quick look myself in a bit if you like. My head is in the middle of a massive file-renaming session at the moment...

OK the 2kXL manual isn't much use as it doesn't list the component (like it does with ICs etc) and is only the main schematics. Is there another unit that uses a decent mod wheel that would probably fit that is worth checking?

The jog wheel used in the 2k5 is an Alps SRGPSJ0500. Now I can't find this on their site but they do have other in the SRGP range. I would suggest emailing Alps and letting them know when your issue is and the model number in use and see if they can suggest anything. I would myself but haven't yet had an issue or even had my unit apart (although I do need to as Pad5 is sticking.)

alps sucks..and the only reason ur finding alps is because they use the same part number to the rotary encoder ....what i need is the potieometer numbers of the encoder,,i can find the part number, but what good is it?..im trying to find a permanent substitute not a replacement. if you could figure out the voltage and amps of the encoder its self, that would be much appreciated,,thanx for helpin!!

^^you know what,,,it seems like the more samples i put on my card the funnier the reaction of the jog gets.
or if im flippin through folders instead of samples then it acts funny also...so im guessing this huge problem has to do a lot with the os and not actually the wheel...i mean i would rather have the 2000xl style encoder on it but it works and thats what matters(for now)..
