i got fresh MPC 1000 and fresh 256 Lexar & fresh 256 Kingston compact flash cards. everything worked out perfectly yesterday but this morning the MPC doesn't find the memory card when trying to load from the card or format the card (says "memory card not found") and overall operating is slowing down! the memorycards ARE working 100% when i use my computers card-reader so this seems that MPC's memorycard-slot has suddenly died overnight?? i just installed OS 1.05. anyone any help/advices?

a couple of things might help...

1) copy everything on your card onto your PC. Wipe the card. Copy it all back on again.

2) If you get that message; exit load/save, go back to the main page, eject the card and then push it back in, see if it works.

if still not working then try a different card and see if works ok in your 1K. If it doesn't it's back to the shop i guess.

Agreed - I would just add "format the card on the MPC1000" , not just wipe it on the PC. The PC might format it differently (though that hasn't happened to me unless I used Linux).

PS: "Logical" problems to the card's FAT file system can happen and need fixing, as you do with any disk drive. Don't confuse this with "physical" card problems, where the card really is faulty...

did in and out the whole day.
the cards are both less than two weeks old and barely used. i can not format them with MPC cos MPC doesn't see any cards in the slot! it simply can't treat the drive when it thinks there is no thing in the hole. i guess it just needs to be sent back, that piece of sh*t.

damn, i'd rather stick with MPC60 if it wasn't 4x bigger & heavier...
