JJ sequencer

Looks a little bit like MPC stuff...Chords etc?

it looks like a big screen version of the mpc - i don't see the point. surely people loyal to the mpc will already have the hardware, and is it going to offer more than the current million other sequencing programs already out there??

keep working on the JJOS instead!

PC only? pfff... waste of time as far as im concerned.

has potential for doing more to tracks before tracking out, could be a good intermediary stage between mpc and daw. (im assuming it can import program folders).

or..

if it runs live somehow via usb and midi, kind of acting like a large monitor as you work from the mpc... that could be a nice eye-saver...

id rather have a better jjos2 though..

I agree. Those screenshots make it look like an early DOS sequencer, or something from the Atari/Amiga, and I really don't think he's going to get any mass appeal. I might give the demo ago if it's feature-rich, although I don't see it persuading me away from Renoise.

And actually i bought my mpc to get away from the PC...
If you're on the Pc you can "work" - but music is intuitional and needs to be played, not programmed.

WTF is the point? Why not just use software then?

I'm just wondering if there will be some features that somehow work with the MPC. Otherwise I don't get it. There are ton's of sequencers that would blow his way

when this was first mentioned i thought it might be a cool addition to the mpc, like a seqeuncer version of bluebox which would load pgms and seqs etc

now that would be useful ,but the message from jj was it was "mpc unrelated"- although the screenshots seem to include a lot os2xl type ideas.

looks kinda cool to me if it's not mouse based
i don't anticipate it being better for me than 2xl, too "squinty" on a big screen

but this is designed with little epcs and nanos in mind
definitely not designed to be a DAW or DAW replacement, which often don't have good mouse-free compositional workflows.

only interested in this if it's 100% MPC compatible. meaning that you can edit your MPC sequences realtime while it is connected to the computer. or do a bunch of funky stuff in the JJ sequencer that you can't do in GRID EDIT.

press a key and the JJ sequencer grabs your current sequence from the MPC, and then press a key and the JJ sequencer transmits the sequence back to the MPC and it pops up in GRID EDIT then you can keep working on it there, bumping back and forth as needed. with realtime integration so you could audition your sounds & edits.

if this JJ sequencer had tight MPC integration like that, it would be a nice complement to the hardware... and once he came out with a MAC version i would probably get it.

but just a standalone PC sequencer? forget it.

If you take a look at the 3rd screenshot the top part of the screen shows a list of PAD 1 - 16; makes me think it's at least slightly MPC related somehow..

the jjsequencer is still inan early stage, i can imagine that therewill be good ideas
implemented, as jj allways had.
i bought m1k for being freed from pc, but, maybe we ll see a surprise in there ?

this looks pretty dope to me, i wouldnt knock it till we try it, if it will read MPC1000 sequences with programs and play them on the pc and be able to save them to wav or mp3 without tracking out the mpc that would be cool for me
