I always told myself I would never sample mp3s but....

the reason i dont like mp3's, is because I like that feeling of finding some random record, finding a gem on it, and flipping it. Its got that hands on feel to it that I just love. I also luv listening to records regardless if I sample them or not, so that randomness/discovery thing is big for me.

Now you can argue you can do the samething on the internet, but, it has a differant vibe. That vibe gives me what I like and need to make a dope beat.

No doubt, ive made beats from mp3's, but I like that feeling.

BTW I just dropped 20 bucks on 3 records and didnt sample shit. Dropped 30 bucks on 30 records and have 5 beats, go figure.............that is the bad part of vinyl.

I'm just surprised people would only buy records to sample. Don't get me wrong, I look for samples a lot but I also buy tons of records because I like the musicand couldn't care less about a sample. It seems to me one of the great things about records is finding music that was never released on cd/mp3 and in good sound quality. 128kbps or 192 kbps is a joke.

yeah it's only going to bring up conflict,but yeah this is what seprates the ones that stay in this for a long time and those that are init for the money.

yeah i started buying records way back when cause there was no cd yet., but even when they did come in i only have about 40 of my own and about 200 that some gave me, but they never get play like my vinyl.

You don't get more credit for sampling vinyl. I always think its funny when ppl who use vinyl seem to think its less of a theft to sample uncleared music if its from vinyl than if its from a cd/mp3. Its like because it took longer to find, your suddenly allowed to jack it clearance free or something. Both ways are stealing, you just get away w/ a better product when you use vinyl, lol.

Use whatever you want, not all mp3's are of bad quality, but I guess it depends on how much work your going to put in to it. If your convinced that you got a great idea for a sample and want it to come out sounding the best, you might regret not using the best sounding medium after your finished. If your just messing around for fun, I don't see the point of investing extra money into vinyl if you can get mp3's for free/.

Anyone sample from tapes? I never tried it, but I magine would have a great analog sound.

i will always prefer vinyl of course but for the most part i use every avenue available and that includes mp3.

it's kinda corny to me how people are stuck on strictly vinyl because of the whole "experience". do you. i just don't care for romanticizing sh*t like it's really serious like that.

Same here. If I buy a record from goodwill that has a dope sample on it, I'll use it.
If I snag a tape out of car at the junkyard while looking for parts, I'll use it.
If I hear something on the radio I think I can twist, I'll download it and try it.
The point is: it doesn't matter.

No one listening to the end product is going to bob their head more because the beat was made with strictly wax. It's just not going to happen.

where ever the sound is its cool dont let the elitist nonsensical mindset stifle what u wanna do, plus if u finding ur always going to the record store and notice that all the dope records are out of ur price range **** it look on-line dont deny ur self the music or the sample source.

but vinyl is still the ultimates but times change.

I like sampling off records because of the snap, crackle and pops. And for the most part I enjoy listening to them during my free time.

But sampling material can come from any source. You'll be limiting yourself if you just sample vinyl. Take a micro-recorder and record the ambience of the street and sample that. I take music off movies too, from dvds and vhs. It don't matter just use what you got.

I'm not gonna lie though, there's alot of stuff that remains on vinyl that you will not hear on cd or on-line.

recently i been searchin songs on i tunes,u can play the first 30 seconds without buying it ,headphone out on my laptop to mpc ins,use crappy cables with as many adapter tips as possible and it sounds goodSTILL PREFER VINYL BUT **** IT. its quick and you can get ANY song possible. i found some shit i really liked then just went and picked up the record and remade the beat!
