Sampling for the newbie

Going to be buying this to sample from cd:

It has an Aux in and L&R Line out.

My question is....

As it has usb & iPod connectivity, will i be able to sample playing through tracks from USB stick/iPod?

If you're sampling from its line out, then you can sample into the MPC anything you want. The usb on the MPC is for dragging and dropping data to your PC, not too big for realtime sampling.

Good. I'll mostly be connecting a usb stick to the cd player & sampling tracks through that. Good to know i can do it...thanks!

Feed the MPC with good stuff and watch it sh!t rainbows and thunder.

What about after sampling. Say i sample a 10 second sample..the sample has drums, keys, effects etc, but all i want is the drum pattern - Can i single out the drums only?

Woah you do not need to buy that to sample from CD.

Want to mainly drag & drop tracks onto usb stick & sample from them through the hi-fi anyway (just seems easier & less wastefull). There's no way i'm shelling out loadsa £ for tons of vinyl after dropping a bomb on an mpc, ya see

My friend you will be missing out on the true essence of sampling. Nothing against sampling from other sources cuz i do it too, but theres nothing like the true sound of vinyl. Not to mention the gems you could miss out on that are not on cd or other medias. And one other note is that i have learned about so many different styles of music from just record digging. This is part of that "essence" i stated b4! But do your thing!

Records aren't that expensive compared to what you bought, but hey whatever floats your boat.

How much is that system really? I see it for £199.99 at Curry's. Am I looking at the right model? A 100 watt system for that price is pretty decent. But any cd player would do just to sample.

I know Records are the "true essence" & vinyl is cheaper but i'd still have to fork out for a turntable & amp & the cd player was new @ £75 elsewhere...so i'm happy

what????? your crazy man. when i had my mpc i was sampling from a portable cd player. and from a casetter player.

whoa... do the impossible. hmmm i dont think so. i mean you could like low filter stuff out but it wont exactly be "singling out the drums only"
