How many?......

How many beats can you fit on a 1gb or higher CF card. Assuming their not
overly complicated, and what is the best size to use for the 2000 xl.

Over 200 easy if there saved as SND's

The reason why i'm asking this is. When using my Kingston 128 MB CF card
their was a no more space message. After saving only like 10 beats. how do
you save your ish properly with CF.

the 128 card is wack. Since it already has sounds on it from the factory you dont have 128mb left to work with. You can delete files to free up room, or after you make a beat, save it to the CF then dump it to the comp to open up more space.

I got say dumping to PC is not the best idea cause you get alot of corruption when you do that.

I disagree. Corruption for the most part will happen when a bad file is introduced to good files and makes a clusterf*ck. If he just dragges files off his card onto the PC he will be fine. Now if he starts taking files he downloaded off the net and dump them ON the card then yea its only a matter of time before that bomb explodes.


(yet another reason to stick to vinyl...no viruses on turntables )

Honestly I just don't save shit on my computer cause both times I had a PC got **** by a virus so I got a MAC and saved some shit on MAC and it changed my ALL SEQS & SOUNDS file to h8 on the end and you can't get rid of it even if I renamed it on the computer & on the MPC. I just save everything to my CF Card & SD Cards.

Ah yes that can definitely happen on a comp that sees the net. My studio comp and production comp only go online for updates. My laptop is the internet whore. That thing has cought more viruses than a 14 year old lil wayne groupie

Yeah I was just saying if you use your computer for the internet I wouldn't suggest saving beats to your PC but if you have no choice than go for it but save them on the CF Card too.

So what type of card do you suggest. For just strait saving beats from the MP.

I have the MCD from MPC stuff.com

1g lasted me a good 6 months maybe longer.

are you guys serious about a pc messing up your card?

i know if your filenames are over 8 characters the pc will rename them and then you cant load em on your mp but other than than i haven't heard cf cards being messed up cuz your pc has internet or viruses.

up until now i just have everything on my cf cards because i haven't gotten around to getting a usb reader but i had been planning to back up eventually. you guys got me rethinkin that.
