New VS Old

everything in my mpc is dry til it hits daw. sampling is very accurate to what is recorded from the record, aside from the analog => 16 bit difference. the 1000/2500 imparts a nice digital frost to the high end, this is best heard when listening from the spdif out. analog outs are a little less crisp, so i use careful judgment when tracking out my beats.

My main gripe is that the 1000 seems like a toy. It just does not feel that solid. The pads and knobs are really poor. Even the 2500 has a data wheel that is completely toy-like. But I said the same thing when the 2000 and 2000xl came out compared to the 60/3000. Its just that the 3rd gen of MPCs are really not that well built anymore. As a creative tool or instrument the tactile sensation and design needs to be considered in one's workflow. Every instrument has intangible qualities as well depending on who designed and manufactured it. I just feel that the older are better for me. The modern ones kill for features and bells and whistles, ease of file mgmt, back-up, JJOS etc... Sound wise and Quantize-wise it is extremely hard to tell them apart, but when you actually are interfacing with them and using them to make music, beats etc... its night and day.

Like a lot of other stuff like tv's and camera's for example.
They replace a lot of metal by plastic to lower the costs.

Case wise I think the MPC 1k is built like a tank...

Knob/button/slider wise it does leave a lot to be desired. Maybe somebody can come up with some decent upgrades to the controls

the buttons knobs and sliders 2500 feel a lot better then the 1k. but it doesn't feel better for ur bank account.

yea thats what I would tell him. Then I would hit him with a sock full of zip disks while he is sleeping. When he gets up ask him if he wants a comparison of how the same sock would feel if it was stuffed with an internal HD from a 1k

Oh man i agree,
i was using one the other day in a music shop and i have to say i was mighty impressed.
I sought of regret not waiting and saving up for the 2500.
But i still love my 1000

IT's a fact, dont go by specs FATSO.

My Make 2-3 beats daily and I do put in work homie, If you want me to shut your ass up with music, I can arrange that too.

and if you would have just taken a second to read my original post you would see that it had nothing to do with specs....but the bright ones always find a way to shine eh anyways...aint no way you can "shut me up with music" as you put it.. Your just a lame on a forum who played himself by showing how bright he was by misreading a post and getting emotional...haha go dry them panties and then try to make some beats.......
