I've left mine one for days at a time, usually no more than over night now. Think of it as a computer, how long can you leave a computer on?

What about the display problem (dark or light stripes all over the display) of the MPC2000. Some people say its the result of extreme "power on" sessions. I dont know but it doesent sound unbelivable.
Ok its not a thing that happen after a week of extreme usage but......

Once you're done using the MPC the best thing to do is save your work and power the machine off
to save on further wear & tear.

I have come to believe the lost lines are from turning it on and off alot (power surging?), rather than leaving it on for extended periods. Now I only leave mine on overnight max.

I kept it on for weeks at several occasions, never experienced any problems related to this. In my (used to be) smokefilled "studio". There are some lines of black on the screen it self when I power it on, but nothing that sticks. Had it since 2000/2001..

i've actually wondered this myself. the most time i've had it on is probably close to 24 hrs. i noticed it gets warm sometimes and have wondered if it's possible to overheat.
plus sometimes it gets added ontime when i use it to transmit sound from movies im watchin on the computer lol.
i try not to keep it on when it's not in use. but sometimes you wanna take a break, come back and just hit play.

MY personal recrod was about 2 weeks without powering off. Now leaving my moniters on is a dif story. I never turn those off.

I can understand leaving an analogue synth on to keep it warm, but an MPC?? That's just laziness.

Not when you're tired and ready for bed and saving a full memory of sounds onto a zip takes some time. I just come back to my beat the next day.

the lines on an lcd burn out fom heat,the longer its on the more heat the mp puts out,however if you got a tilt screen im pretty surethat less heat would be around the screen my friend has a xl with saving problems, it has been on since december!! screen is flawless.
