Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By mistergjg Mon Mar 30, 2009 4:47 am
I recently purchased a used 2000xl. When I purchased it, it showed one/sometimes two vertical screen lines, but nothing big. After using it for about a week, many more lines began to appear. Now, when the MPC is first turned on, there are so many lines that it makes it difficult to read the screen. The lines start to go away after the MPC runs for a little while, but I am worried that soon I will no longer be able to use the unit.

I looked for a replacement screen online, used or new, and could not fine one single screen for sale.

Does anyone know where I might find a replacement screen?
or
Is there any way to repair the screen I have?

Thanks for any help.

It's sad that soon ppl with mpc2000 classics/xl's will be stuck in a rut, because of this, and there is nothing we can do about it!

Yup but you can find replacement screens online from companies other than MPC Stuff & VST.

I think I have a theory on this phenomenon.

When I was installing a new backlight on my 3k, I had to mess with the positioning of the LCD a few times to make the circuit board line up correctly with the actual screen LCD. There are clips that hold the two together, which serve as ground points for the screen circuitry.... I had to re adjust these in order to make the screen display correctly. Have you guys tried re-positioning these clips? Adjusting the position of the screeen on the board? Humidity could cause the grounds to become corroded and this cause screen issues. Somone should test this that has a bunch of lines.
