midi help (motif 6 - mpc2000xl

How can I midi my keyboard with my drum machine so that the keyboard is the seq playing the drum beat while I'm working on the keys ? I can get it to do that its just the samples from the MPC get put on some of my keys. Is there a way to set the range back so that the keys only play internal sounds but still controls the playback of the mpc ??

If i were u i would use the mpc as a sequencer..

Have you tried using different MIDI channels? Or selecting an empty program on the MPC when you want to play the keyboard?
