Hi

Was wondering if anybody ever noticed a difference when you reduce a 24 bit sampled to 12 bits in the MPC 4000?

I know i've tried it a while back and didn't noticed the 12 bit "lo-fi effect"

Does that option really work??

Thanks for sharing

Peace

does it sound like an s950 or mpc60, or sp1200? = no

But it definitely sounds different just not like a SP1200 or S950.

But i guess it's a very subtle change. Because i don't ear any difference....

Maybe if i pass it thru 2 or 3 times?

Even between quality hi and lo i still find there's no big difference

well the sound of the classic machines you folks mention above is not solely because they have 12 bit resolution -
it is also the sound of their A > D convertors, the sound of their D > A convertors,
and (in the case of the MPC60) the fact it uses a companded digital audio, not linear PCM
(whilst the EMu Sp12000 has analogue filters)
