120 requests is a lot.....and there are actually more if you read other internet forums. This list is actually several years in the making. Many of the requests are not available in any hardware workstation on the market.

I was really considering buying a 5000 until I read this thread.

Over 120 feature request, and this is the latest/greatest MPC!?!?!??!?

A feature request thread would make you not want to buy a specific machine? It seems you didn't actually read the list. Most of the requested features are unavailable in the MPC 4000 or MV-8800..or any workstation for that matter. Over 20 of the features in that list will be found in OS 2.0.

Yes.

Actually, I did.

This is true, but most of the requested features are available in the software that I already own.

So anyway...

I feel that a more comprehensive means of saving should be in order.

Save features:

1. Effects sets
2. Q-Links sets
3. Mixer sets

Possibly as an option in the save menu. (option to save each of them in their own folder.)

yes, indeed I wonder why they forgot it, I think mostly because the mpc 5000 can do so much. but it should't be a hell of work to implement more useful saving options.

I didn't say it is not possible, I said it could be hard. Depends on how the structure has been setup in the 5k. I slightly remember asking for this a year ago or so. But I will ask again!

Thanks.

The 4k also had a program purge function on top of sample purge. This would purge any unused programs not used in the mixer/song. There really needs to be a way to only load the samples with the song or your song files will be unnecessarily large and waste a ton of disk space loading all those samples when you only needed a couple mb for the whole song.
Well with the fantom you could always go to your harddrive check off all or individual samples not used. Then press unload and wallah you get all that waisted time back!!!! great feature!!!!

or better yet having the 5000 able to tag what you are sequencing automatically(as far as what is assign/unsigned to pads). Then pressing purge to unload all the unused samples. Ultimately recovering all of the memory previously loaded!!!! great feature!!!!

I have a feeling this is a marketing strategy to force people into buying the EXM upgrade among others but thats just my opinion??

DLP wrote: the ability to save Q-Link settings, so that they can be loaded as needed. It makes sense, if I'm taking the time to configure twelve controls, associating CC parameters with each, that's not something I want to have to redo. "Entire Memory" isn't a granular enough method of saving these settings. Thanks!
Amen, DLP. When your in Amplitude Envelope screen and you've assigned attack, decay, release to q-links it gets all confused depending on which one you tweaked first. Plus the q-links do not control those in the Amplitude Envelope screen anyways. I have erased whole beats figuring this out. Just because i didn't feel like re-editing every program and sequence over. Most of us just gotta learn the hard way jack. Anyways i would love for them to add this.thanks

Feature request still needed after OS 2.0

General
-Real time audition of quantize changes with sequence play from T.C. screen
-Remove fix screen from T.C. since it is needless. This can be merged on the first screen.
-Ability to increase pad on threshold/sensitivity so the pads trigger accurately every time.
-Add Independent lengths settings for each sequence track. Tracks are set to current sequence length when first recorded. Track length can be adjusted independently from main pressing window on new track "bars" parameter. From window you can quickly add empty bars or append the track to itself.
-Automatic track looping set globally for each sequence. When on, tracks in sequence loop to fill length of sequence.
-Add selectable accent sound to click/metronome
-Import midi file to track with real time preview.
-Midi phrase library.
-Add external midi mixer for midi out ports
-Midi device port and channel naming
-Add Chord function
-16 level scales

Chop shop improvements
a. Add F1 [ADD] and F2 [DELETE] soft-buttons to create slice markers while using data wheel
b. Once a sample is chopped, ability to use pads/pad banks to select regions to edit
c. Allow region start/end points to overlap
d. Add Shift + Pad to [Extract] waveform between start/end points and assign to pad/program
e. Add Convert slice regions to keygroup program

Trim
-improve tempo detect accuracy
-Add Scrolling cursor
-Add re-sampler with quick FX to edit options to re-sample through FX
-Cross fade loop
-Auto-chromatic assignment of sample – add upper & lower note range
-Mark select for editing a group of samples for normalize, truncate, delete.
-detect and remove silence

Program
-Add Modulation Matrix
-Add most Synth, Keygroup, Sample program parameters to modulation matrix (reverse and alternating, sample start offset)
-Add a second syncable LFO to allow full compatibility w/ S5000/6000, Z8, and MPC 4K programs
-Add reverse and alternating to Play Mode
-Add sample start offset and delay to pad layers
-Add two MIDI channels/programs to track

Q-link
-Add Q-link Modes selectable with shift modifier
A. Global
B. Program (ADSR cutoff etc.) / assignable (appears in APM modulation matrix)

Rec Sample
-Add ability to quick assign newly recorded sample to any program
-Skip back re-sampling feature like Roland Fantoms.

Disk
-Purge – add purge program and purge complete memory
-Save mixer with programs and samples
-Save song + sequences + mixer
-Add ability to save effect sets,
-Increase load and save speeds at least 5X
-Mark select to load/save a group of samples

Grid Edit
- Add [Insert] tab (like Step Edit has) to insert Note, Pitch Bend, Control Change, Program Change, etc

Seq Edit
-Add ALL TRACKS to function button.
-Add split notes by pitch function. Each note can be moved to a new empty track and each new track is assigned to the same program settings etc. Selected pad or all is the option
-quick sequence append in bars window on function button to append sequence to itself.

JUST PLAIN AND SIMPLE:

pressing "track mute" opens Track mute mode (yes, that´s the case)
pressing "track mute" again closes Track mute mode (request)

I am going to be getting another MPC soon. I looked at the 5k but I can't quite justify the purchase considering the price and some missing key features. Especially the lack of sample chop and quick assign along with automated sample assign. Here is the essential list before I consider a 5k.

-Real time audition of quantize changes with sequence play from T.C. screen
-Remove fix screen from T.C. since it is needless. This can be merged on the first screen.
-Ability to increase pad on threshold/sensitivity so the pads trigger accurately every time.

-improve tempo detect accuracy

Q-link
-Add Q-link Modes selectable with shift modifier
A. Global

Rec Sample
-Add ability to quick assign newly recorded sample to any program

Disk
-Purge – add purge program and purge complete memory
-Save mixer with programs and samples
-Increase load and save speeds at least 5X
-Add split notes by pitch function. Each note can be moved to a new empty track and each new track is assigned to the same program settings etc. Selected pad or all is the option

Also, I strongly feel there should be a second LFO and mod matrix. My other things would require new hardware. If there is no 5000XL being developed the 5k needs another OS upgrade with these basic features.

as i stated in another 2.0 thread:

Now, would it not be a glorious thing if when in TRIM mode, shift + pad could actually assign the part of the sample you have highlighted?

 :P

Yup.

d. Add Shift + Pad to [Extract] waveform between start/end points and assign to pad/program

Of course, that shortcut is already used in 2.0 for assigning the whole sample so maybe they could put "extract" on a function key in trim or use window.
