I liked the idea of the mpc being a standalone tool and decent layering is an absolute must for this imo (didnt all mpcs have that feature?)

The pattern/chord features are gimmicks imo. Cant save the chords with a sequence/program/project, cant edit the patterns while running the sequence (or did i miss sth here?). Can´t insert different notes for a midi output, too.

Now most of the time i´m working with ableton live and the mpc synced, so most of the layering can be done within live. Nym´s way of using the midi outs with a vst is good too. Still this is a backlash for me, as the new simult is quite useless.

Still the new features are amazing, just finished working through the manual and i think í´m ready to make the switch.

Not much to explain, basically with the old simult you could record your performance and afterwards simult pads to the original pads played. For more info read the numerous threads about this topic...

Yup, but only 60's with the newer OS version. Simult pad was mostly made popular on the 3000.

If we gotta loose anything. I say off with chord's head.

^ not referring to you, masterceo, but folks with no insight as to how the whole thing works really need to stop with the whole "give and take" concept. that's not how it works - that's a very "os1 way of thinking"

I think that "I don't give a kcuf" vote was giving from people who don't know about the difference between old and new simult.

or those of us using better solutions to layer our drums

"better solutions" is a matter of opinion.

Has anyone else contacted JJ with their input about Simult Pad in XL? I think it would be worthwhile.

I'm not usually one to promote this kind of pestering, but the botching of simult pad is THE BIGGEST step backwards that JJ has taken with his OS's. It's worth it to let him know.

Yup, they wrote that there was something in 2XL which made it difficult to keep Traditional simult pad. That was the reason for the change to simult pad.

We were pretty much left to assume the difficulty was caused by chord or arp mode...

JJ should definitely communicate better with us users. he should give more detailed information in his responses or have Murai come here & give some answers and clarification from time to time. otherwise he just increases all the speculation & debates and ill feelings. i don't see the need anymore for such secrecy.

No doubt NYM. Actually, I'm happy with the way OSXL is right now. :)

I love what JJ has done. He gave Us 4 Different OS's That work. He can't make everybody happy, but he def made me happy.

I say Make music, and Stop Complaining already.

Thats the only downfall of this Message Board thing.
