Parkdale!

But soon to be Bloor and Ossington. Would like to have a beer with other MPC users in Toronto one day but I am a hobbyist and such a novice that I think I need to improve my skills so I would have something relevant to say.

oh shit man. we got some MPCers up in here. i am new to the mpc world myself. figuring it out slowly but surely. i like to mix it up and freestyle on a regular in my tiny ass home project studio. love hip hop first and lots of other music a close second. anyone going to http://www.ripthemic.ca tomorrow?? should be dope. talib kweli will be judging and performing. we should definitely get a tdot mpc/mc/dj/producer thing going. who in the biz inspires you? my fav is primo as a producer but love other katz like pete rock, j dilla... favourite emcees would have to be jeru, guru and maybe common. it's really tough to narrow that shit down but i thought i'd throw it out there to see who you all like. hit me back and lets keep this thread going. anyone messing with pro tools le, sampletank, t-racks, recycle, logic/exs24 or anything like dat?

I would be down to link up with y'all and talk shop. I got a lot of ideas to share about breaking into the business, production concepts and sh!t. This little thread could be the start of some powerful sh!t, seen.

EMAIL: special-projects at sympatico.ca

A little bout me..

-I got started in the business by doing co-op at Long and McQuade years ago learning to repair electronic MIs, worked for them for a couple years after school before moving on. It was a good job, got to meet some big cats, learned to fix keyboards and MPCs, got juiced about the music business ever since

-producing for four years and shopped enough beats to pay off all my gear

-currently in the Special Projects Division (three people: myself, production; and two others, MCs and beatboxing)

-the group is on hiatus right now as we hit some hard times (half the equipment was lost in that big ass blackout when the lights came back on{HERE'S SOME ADVICE FOR YOU: GET A LINE CONDITIONER TO PROTECT YOUR GEAR FROM CURRENT VARIATION AND SPIKES/SURGES, POWER BARS ARE NOT ENOUGH, NEED TO KNOW WHAT IT IS, HOLLA AT ME}, I just became a partner in an electronics repair business, my boyz are entering college and sh!t, re, re, re, life sh!t, you know how that is.)

-we're planning to get back into gear at the end of the summer and begin production on an EP that we can shop to big cats or distribute underground

-we are hungry because we want it, and also cause we're heavily invested, financially, in it

That's a bit about me or us, the SPD.

To answer my man's question there, my favorites and yours are the same (in that 1994-1999 year span). I would also and Jaydee and Madlib, sick production. And another MC, Guilty Simpson, boy's crazy man.

As far as the equips:

MPC4000 Studio D
Pro Tools LE w/ Digi 001 (a 002 soon come)
Roland Fantom-S88
Numark TTX-1
E-MU Planet Phatt (the old purple one)
Roland VP-9000 (sick for use on vocals and altering sample character)
Mackie VLZ-1608 Mixer
Apple PowerMac G4
Mics were destroyed in the blackout (Studio Projects B1s still)

I admit, I'm not much of a software man, I just use Pro Tools to track and some times Peak to chop or master.

Now you know what my state of affairs is.

Let's all link up soon, it's gotta start somewhere.

Peace.

SHADOW

i am looking to get an sp12 on ebay. wondering if you think this is fixable and how much would it cost me to have you fix it?

"This item is in good working condition. The only problem is the light for the screen doesn't work but you can still see the information on the screen with no problem. It can probably be easily fixed."

thanks man.

when we linking up for some mpc shit????

yes more info on line conditioners please..

I'm in Mississauga and make weirdo Dr. Sample creations. I will be getting my mpc2xl in a few weeks. My favorite producer is Odd Nosdam from the Anticon crew.

My Gear,

2 Vestex Turntables
Vestex 05 Pro Mixer
Dr. Sample 303
Fostex analog 4 Track

I am not interested in "breaking into the business" but wouldn't mind jamming with some other beginner or advanced mpc'rs in the area for a session to share what you learned so far and have a couple beers.

Anybody from Mississauga?

By tdot Sun Jul 18, 2004 8:15 pm

id definitely be down for linking and discussing world domination plans...jeah.

a bit about me:

- been spittin for a while, 6 years or so...had a monthly a b-sides for a while with OTU, the crew I was in that has since disbanded. also done shows across Ontario...without getting off topic in an mpc forum, im kinda lookin for some cats to spit with (and beats, of course)

- just got into the beat making thang...by no means am I in any position to drop knowledge on any one in that realm.

some quick one take snippets of me and my boy dj trisoneeko. just us effin around; one take and poor sound quality:

anyway, big up all of tdot.
