mpc2500 mixer

do any of you guys use the inboard eq and compression on the mpc2500 or is it better to turn it off and mix off outboard gear like cubase, or protools? let me know because I've noticed on my mpc that the eq and compression is automaticallly on when I'm making beats and am wondering if I need to turn it off or to just leave it and use it thank you peace.

There's no real right or wrong, it's all in what sounds good to you. I find that most cats opt out of the MPC effects and go for software plug-in's. The downside to using the internal MPC effects is that once you set them and track the beat into software, you can't make changes.

I don't use that shit! I set it so it is automatically off. I forget exactly where to do this. But if you got JJOS, there is three places to turn the Master EQ and compressor off. Mode + Pad 11, then press F5 (Out menu) and turn it off. Or Mode + Pad 12, then F4 and turn them off. Also in Mode + Pad 12, press F1 and go up to Eff and get rid of the presests by pressing open window and reset. One of these will turn it off permanently, until you turn it back on!

Even though I don't use it, they are good effects, but I do everything in Pro Tools. I don't even EQ sounds before sampling. I like to have the raw original sound of the sample and tweak it later in Pro Tools. These effects are good though if you are going straight to cd or don't have access to these effects outside of the MPC!
