True, I just love the 60, and sequencing wise, the 60 kills the asr.

Me too...... The MPC's sequencer is the most intuitive that I have ever used. Its a truly incredible instrument. I wish he could embrace the idea of saving so he can have both. Its an incredible combo.

heard it's hard to program drums in the ASR...

No, I do understand. I just asked a question what would be better out of the two, and everyone is like get both. But I asked which one is better. Course I know having both is an incredible combo.

The point of having both depends entirely on what type of music you are doing. Having an actual keyboard sampler makes it easy to layer instruments into your arrangement. Yes you can map out samples across different octaves. I can play basslines easier on a keyboard. The 10 has great built in efx and resampling and it just sounds great.
There is a relatively unknown way to stretch the 16mb to maybe triple that. If I was on a severe budget and could only have one piece in my setup, id go with the 10. Im glad I dont have that problem tho.....lol. I wish I could justify getting one. I would add one to my setup. Unfortunately I just dont need one with the other pieces in my setup.
BTW Deta!L $900 for the 60 is a great price. Not high at all.

I feel you.... honestly tho neither is better. The 60 has the BEST sequencing in the biz. Its the also best "drum machine" of them all in my opinion. The 10 probably has the best efx in a hardware sampler. With the hard drive capability, resampling, filters, and the sound, its hard to beat. The reason I got the 60 was to step my drum game up. I have other joints that can handle everything else. I lovvvee having it to use for drums. I would really hate to have it as my only sampler tho. Not when I have access to stuff better suited to other sampling tasks at reasonable prices.
The 10 will never have the ease and elegance in sequencing the 60 has. The 60 will never have the features the 10 has, nor will it have a keyboard. Sometimes the only option is to have both. Scrape, hustle, save, steal (j/k) , do whatever is necessary to have both if you can. Dont settle for just the one.

Some guy has just contacted me saying he has an MPC60mk2 for sale with v3 software and scsi and in very good condition. He is asking for £600 ($1200). Is it worth it?

I wouldnt buy a 60 mk2 for that much. I almost bought my mk1 for 1150 tho til I came across a better deal thru a friend. I wouldnt have been mad if I paid that or 50 bux more tho. Honestly.

It's not really 1200, it's more like 1130. Fully expanded with scsi memory and latest os, a MK I, in very good to mint condition, that's a fair proce for sure. You won't regret the money spent.

Keep that ASR-10. I have both and they are 2 totally different machine.
Its easy to make drums on the asr. dont listen to what everyone says,...you have the machine, rock it. Double your BPM (if you want 80bpm, record at 160) make sure your cutting your sounds perfect, and your drums will slam. The Mpc is limited as to what you can do with the sounds you sample. The asr is limitless. I have both, and Id never let either go. They both have their low and high points....but if I we re just settling on one.....Id.......quit hahahahah

I switch back and forth,and use both...just for inspiration.
