i think he uses a mpc 3000, a triton, a micro korg, and some other sh*t.

its in the new magazine called scratch, liek the post above he uses a mpc 3000, a triton, and some synths theres some video around on the net that hsows him messing with his stuff, but if you wnat a good video ont he ent about producer making beats theres one with domino and that dude is sick.

i read him saying somewhere that all these rap cats ask him where he gets his sounds and he says he gets mad notes from dance music keys and modules and they didn't know cause they skip right over that stuff....

Actually if you had the keyboard you would know what it is cause..

Timbaland, Dre, Lil John, David Banner, Puffy....

They all use the preset sound built into the NORD red synth...

Its a pretty complex keyboard, but when you use it your first time you will
realize "Brush your shoulders off", Dre's the Watcher,
Lil John-What-Salt Shaker, and the new pitbull track where all made using the NOrd sounds preset in programs..


Go get a Nord if you want real sound, but get the new ones..

How do I know this I work with Metallia producer bob rock who flies in tons of top name clients, and he himself also uses the nord on some metallica shit..Look deep thou...

I was just at guitar center yesterday messing with that red nord and i was impressed. how much would a used one go for????

used ones usually range about 200- 1000

micromoogs are usually around 400. that's how much i got mine for. if you can get it, pick one up because the filter input is worth the 400 alone. sounds nuts.

and you can get the lil jon "beverly hills cop" synth sound with pretty much any decent synth. nord lead, virus, etc. will all give ya that shitty trance lead sound. now why you would want to do that is a whole nother thread...

The nord lead only comes in red man! I guess that is the color clavia likes to use, all their shit is in that red scheme. I got the Nord Lead 2. Its a tight board. Like my MPC, I use it all the time and it just grows on me. I was thinking about selling it too before I learned how to pimp it. The NL 1, 2, and 2X, use the same sound engine, and have the same layout. They only upgraded the polyphony and memory from one board to the next. Only thing that is weak about the nord lead is that there are no built in effects, and I guess that isnt that bad because most onboard stuff is wack. Another turn off is not being able to route sounds thru it to use the filters and shit on exteral sounds like with the Virus. Try one out but dont be turned off by the wack presets because the real power is in the programming and layering.

Alot of VAs don't have an external filter input because it would require an analog to digital converter to digitize your signal and run it through the filter. An ADC increases the manufacturing cost.

On an analog machine it is usually very simple to add an input into the filter with the main cost being a 1/4" jack.

I never thought about it like that, but it makes sense. I figured it wouldn't be that difficult because the MS2000, JP80x0, and the Virus, and a few others have inputs.
