How do you scrub a sample when chopping/editing?

So I've looked through the manual, and I've looked through the forums, and can't seem to figure out how people are scrubbing their samples in trim mode so that they can hear specific instances of a sound. Can anyone let me know how this is done in either the latest AKAI OS or the freebie JJ OS (I'm still getting to know it so haven't plunked down for the nicer versions).

If not, and you feel like spamming with the "read the manual" un-helpful responses, can you at least point out the page that explains it, because I'm clearly missing it .

You've seen someone doing this with a MPC1000? Youtube? Sounds cool.

Not sure if the mpc1000 does this. On the 2000xl, if you're in sample trim screen, make sure the "cursor" is highlighting the start point value. Then hold the shift button and at the same time move the slider underneath it. As you move it up or down, the start time fluctuates and you can listen for different points within the individual sample really quickly.

Yeah, here's the video...I think that's a 1000 and not a 2000XL...am I wrong on that? If so I'd love to figure out how to scrub like that, it would be tremendously helpful.

I think you just have to keep the pad pressed down while you adjust the start position of the sample.
